Trojans put 7 in Olympic Water Polo Tryouts
Water polo is a sport that USC has been stellar out in recent years, and the number of Trojans attempting to make the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Water Polo teams for the Beijing games is a testament to that. 6 USC Women’s Water Polo athletes and one male Trojan are among the distinguished final few working hard to make the rosters for this summer’s Olympics. Read on to find out which men and women of Troy are in the running for this prestigious honor.
For the USC Women’s Water Polo players, 5 recent graduates and 1 junior are among the final 14 on the roster that must be trimmed to 13 on June 30th. That means that at least five Women of Troy are going to be headed to Beijing, an outstanding honor for themselves and USC as a university! These Trojans are as follows: graduates Erika Figge, Lauren Wenger, Patty Cardenas, Brittany Hayes, and Moriah Van Norman. Junior Kami Craig rounds out the list, and the USC Trojans look to be well represented in the pools in Beijing.
On the men’s side, J.W. Krumpholz is looking to represent the USC Trojans in Beijing as part of the Men’s Water Polo team. The current roster has been trimmed to 18 and must also be further cut to 13 by June 30th. Here’s to hoping that Krumpholz continues to work hard and represents the Cardinal and Gold this summer for the U.S. Olympic team!
